Reserved platforms

Surface Public Transport exhibits the difficulty of sharing the road network with private transport. Traffic congestion during rush hour periods is the main difficulty and has a highly negative impact on public transport. In order to improve public transport timekeeping and to make it independent from the problems of general traffic, in the main urban thoroughfares with the most public transport supply, the introduction of reserved platforms is increasing. A suitable design of reserved platforms encourages public transport, because the segregation of heavy vehicles from general traffic increases the fluidity of light vehicle traffic. At the same time, it is possible to increase the quality perceived by the users and lower operations costs if the equipment of the staging points and the operational installations or public transport are improved.
